Grace-Street Ministry ~ Robert Ross serves as co-pastor to this Portland ministry by offering pastoral presence on the street to homeless & marginalized people and supportive visits to Preble St. Resource & Soup kitchen as well as shelters.
WPCC MUSIC ~ exceptional bell choir of youth & adults perform for Christmas & Easter worship services ~ Also there are frequent "pick-up choirs" for the singers ~ Often there's accompaniment from the numerous talented soloists, flutists, keyboardists, pianists, guiitarist;
Youth Group ~ plan & design a church service annually; do chores to raise money for an occasional special trip; make bread for communion after a church sleep-over; participate as Jr. deacons; watch & discuss (over pizza) an appropriate movie;
Prayer Group ~ All are welcome at 8 a.m. Tuesdays when the gathering around the table in the chapel becomes a circle of expressed and heart-holding prayer followed by coffee;
Women's Fellowship ~ provides scholarships for church camp, sends goodie-packed boxes to college students during exam weeks, plans & runs the HUGE task of the annual Christmas Fair & Tea on the first Saturday in December, plus arranges birthday celebrations for ladies' big birthdays ending in 5 or 0.
Men's Breakfast ~ Men support men and socialize, taking turns making a filling, delicious breakfast in the church dining room ~ open to men of other area churches;
Congo Craftsmen ~ build beautiful & useful items for our church, Pilgrim Lodge (screens! bunk ladders!), special pieces (game & puzzle boards) for Christmas Fair;
Book Group ~ Selects books to read & discuss, rotating among parishoners' homes for an evening once a month, taking a summer break with a BIG read;
Loving Stitches ~ Ladies gather most weeks (summer recess) in homes to knit or crochet prayer shawls for folks recovering from illness or surgery as well as craft items for the Christmas Fair ~ women from other area churches also are part of this group and share in the hosting.
Newsletter ~ STEEPLE VIEWS ~ Monthly (except summer) news & notices are submitted to the editor (Sharon Lyon) for electronic publication around the first of the month ~ copies are mailed to those not on line and are also available in the chapel.
Church World Service ~ Includes CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty), Neighbors in Need, Smile Fund (see below) application consideration, dependent on available funds; the Pastoral Fund, Strengthen the Church ~ WPCC is a 5/5 church;
Smile Fund ~ A fund-raising group to provide adults in the SAD #44 catchment area who have no funds yet (1) need dentures or partial plates and (2) are employed or seeking employment;
Boy Scout Troop & Cub Scout Pack 566 ~ are sponsored by West Parish, UCC and hold their meetings in the church dining room as well as store their camping equipment.
